Runeforge 2.0: The Endless Cellar update
Procedural dungeons are now deeper and more dangerous. A new rune tree, 18 enemy types, redesigned boss fights and weekly challenges — all in one update.
Two years ago we launched Runeforge in a small cellar with three enemy types and a handful of runes. Today we share our biggest update yet, shaped by thousands of hours of community feedback: The Endless Cellar.
A new rune tree
We rebuilt the rune system from scratch. There are now over 200 runes across four main branches, each encouraging its own playstyle. We wanted to break the old “one true build” feeling.
- Fire branch: high risk, high damage
- Mist branch: control and escape
- Iron branch: endurance and defence
- Star branch: luck and combo chains
Death shouldn’t be a punishment; it should be an excuse for the dungeon to re-weave itself.— From the design notebook
2.0 in numbers
We reworked boss fights too: each boss now has two phases and changes its attacks based on the dungeon’s current rune theme. In the weekly challenge everyone plays the same seed; the ladder resets on Fridays.
The update is free on all platforms. Meet us in #runeforge-feedback on Discord — this game grows with you.
