Mistwalker takes the stage at Indie Spirit
Our atmospheric adventure became a finalist for “Best Art Direction”. We share how the stage felt — and what comes next.
Last week we were at the Indie Spirit Festival, and Mistwalker made the finalist list for “Best Art Direction”. For a small studio, that stage means more than we expected.
The work behind the mist
Mistwalker’s visual language chased a single question for a year: “How do you draw silence?” Our artist Sıla deliberately limited her palette to the cold purples of mountain mist.
Instead of telling the player something, we wanted them to feel something.— Sıla Aksoy, Pixel Artist
We didn’t take the award home, but what the jury said about the art direction made the team’s months of work worth it. And the reactions of players we met at the festival were a motivation all their own.
What’s next?
With festival feedback we’re polishing the last two regions of early access. The full release is later this year; we’ll share the date on Discord soon.
